| Geographically, Poreč is located on 45°22' of Northern latitude, and 13°59' of Eastern longitude, 29 metres above sea level. The 2000-year-old town is located in the harbour protected by the small island of sv. Nikola (St. Nicholas). The town itself has around 11000 inhabitants. The Poreč region (Poreština) covers 142 square kilometres with 37 km of coastline, from the river Mirna near Novigrad (north) to Funtana and Vrsar (south). The climate is mild, without summer sultriness. August is the warmest month with average temperature of 30°C and low humidity, and January is the coldest month with average temperature of 5°C. Poreč has over 3850 hours of sun every year, which makes an average of 10 hours per day. Sea temperature can go up to 28°C, which is more than in the Southern Adriatic. |
| There are also gusty winds from the north which bring cold and sunny weather during the winter, scirocco, which brings rain from the south, and the summer breeze (mistral). Use our rental vehicles to explore the Baredine cave, the only open geological monument in Istria. Cityrent advises you to visit the Lim canal, a fiord-like sea bay which cuts 12 km into mainland, and was created by the river Pazinčica. The scenery is filled with Mediterranean plants, pine forests and green macchia. Soil is comprised of fertile red dirt (crljenica) with rocks. Crljenica is highly suitable for agriculture (wheat, orchards, olives, vegetables). Today, the organic food industry (olives, grapes) and especially wine production with quality sorts such as Malvazija, Borgonja, Merlot, Pinot, and Teran, is a significant part of Poreč economy. Rent a vehicle and visit beautiful Poreč beaches reserved only for your privacy. |
